My acne treatment

Hell yeah, I've tried all sorts of treatment to deal with my acne and until now I have no idea which stuff really works.

But, now that I found out about my dairy food allergy, then I will know that my acne will be controlled as long as I don't eat dairy products.

So, what do I do when I get a pimple?

Here are the pimple remedies I have with me..

1. Body Shop Tea Tree Oil.

I'm addicted to the scent of this oil. A small bottle would probably cost 450 to 500 pesos but this will take you 6 to 9 months to used up. It relaxes me so every once in awhile I would use this as spot treatment when I get a papule or a pustule.

2. Duac.

This can be bought in Mercury drug for around 800 pesos up. This comes in a small tube which you can also use as a spot treatment. I was told by my dermatologist to just take a pea size amount of duac in my finger tips and then just apply it in the entire face. I actually love this med because it is a powerful combination of Benzoyl Peroxide and Clindamycin drug.

Benzoyl Peroxide is what you use to oxidize the pimple. It also helps clear dead cells in your skin. The popular brand is panoxyl.

Clindamycin is the drug that kills the bacteria.

3. Cortisone injections.

When I get nodules or probably cyst, I go see a dermatologist and have my pimple injected to relieve the inflammation. Well, I'm not sure if I do get nodules or cysts. But any pimple that is stubborn and disturbing can be easily treated with one injection. In my case, I go to Clarity located inside Robinson's Malate. An injection will cost 110 pesos.

4. Kojic acid soap.

I use this some in a week or two to lighten my dark pimple scars. This is effective because it helps control oil in my face and also lighten scars.

Kojic acid is the byproduct of fermentation of the Japanese rice wine called "sake". A bar will probably cost around 30 to 100 pesos depending on the seller.

I would also like to include treatments that did not work for me!

1. Tretinoin creams.

Whenever I apply tretinoin creams in my face, my pimples will flare up!

Tretinoin is a drug that helps generate new cells. It increases the turnover of the cells and helps in repairing cells. It actually has a lot of benefits but I don't want to take the risk to go long term with this kind of treatment. If my pimples flare up then I will only get scars. I'd rather deal with one or two pimple at a time.

Tretinoin is good for some because it is also used to treat wrinkles and sun damaged skin. Of course you are not allowed to expose your face under the sun if you are under this treatment.

2. Tetracycline capsules.

I have to say these capsules did not work also because I only had an upset stomach after taking it.

Tetracycline is also a drug that kills bacteria.

9intervals, the idea is derived from a cat having nine lives. I guess, I don't have to tell you how much I love cats! We've been through intervals in this lifetime. Guess, I'm lucky to be alive. I don't think I would be lucky the next time. But nevertheless, we have our intervals. A certain episode that we remember in the past that affects our future. Or maybe just something that we can learn from. A little something to look back to.
